The ‘Dandy 5th’ Centenary Events

File0044.JPGAs already recorded on the main page, the 5th Scout Troop were the first Troop to be registered in Greenock.
They began in April 1908 under the auspices of the 5th Argyll & Southern Highlanders. Hence the use of the number 5 rather than the 1st.

To celebrate their centenary year, a number of events are being organised and are as below.
Some dates are provisional with final arrangements still to be made:-

JANUARY : Explorers trip to Bulgaria , ” SKIING ACTIVITY ”

MARCH 15th : “CENTENARY FETE ” , Westburn Church Halls and Grounds (10am - 2pm)

APRIL 25th : ” GROUP BIRTHDAY CAKE” and Party - for all Sections - Westburn Church Main Hall, (7.30)

APRIL / MAY : ” CIVIC RECEPTION ” , for Current and Former Leaders within the Grand Corridor , Town Hall, Greenock.

JUNE : ” GROUP B.B.Q ” ; Everton Scout Camp , or Lunderston Bay

SEPTEMBER : ” GROUP CAMP ” , Lochearnhead Scout Station .

OCTOBER 25th : ” CENTENARY DINNER , Tontine Hotel .

OCTOBER 26th : ” RE-DEDICATION SERVICE ” , Westburn Church.

JANUARY / FEBRUARY 09 : “GROUP CEILIDH” , Wanderers Rugby Club .
