Kids Outdoors – Mountain Biking
After a refresher course in cycle maintenance, journey planning and Highway Code last Friday night, 13 Scouts from the 6th Greenock (1st Gourock) completed the mountain bike section of their Cyclist Badge on Sunday. Their course took them from Gourock Scout HQ down the new cycle path to Lunderston Bay, through Ardgowan Estate and up the hill to Everton Scout camp. After a short break for lunch they continued up through the forest to the hills and dirt tracks above Inverkip. There were no punctures but the usual splashes of mud, minor cuts and bruises and a little sunburn. They returned to Gourock after taking a well deserved break at Lunderston Bay. Well done to all the boys, and leaders!.

Kids Outdoors – Hiking and Camping
A team of 10 from the Darroch Explorer Unit took on the Challenge of the 95 mile West Highland Way. Despite the cold April nights the walking conditions were ideal, with some of the best weather conditions experienced by the unit in years The route from Milngavie to Fort William was completed in 6 days with a backup team of 2 moving the tents and gear between the various sites allowing them to walk up to 22 miles in a day. The aches and pains soon disappeared with the knowledge that they had completed one of the major walking challenges in Scotland.
