SHQ Appointment

Greenock and District congratulates Ruth Bennett on her recent appointment as Scottish Headquarters Commissioner for Cub Scouts. Beaver Scout Leader of the 70th Group, Ruth has served as an ADC in Greenock District and as an AAC in Renfrew and Inverclyde. As Scottish Scouting completes its re-structure Ruth takes on this challenging role with the full support and best wishes of Greenock and District.First Investitures at 97th Group

97th Beavers

The first investitures at the newly formed 97th Beaver Colony took place last Wednesday night. The Beavers also had another first with the presentation of their Crafts Badges. The Beaver Colony has really taken off since February with the next batch of new members ready to be invested in two weeks time.

Scout Shop

Anyone requiring items from the Scout Shop in time for the Annual Parade should ensure that their order is placed no later than Saturday 10th May to allow for delivery time.

Any badges required before the end of the session should also be placed by this date please.

Telegraph Litter Campaign

25 Scouts and 1 Beaver Scout from the 32nd filled 40 bin sacks of rubbish from around the Murdieston Dam area last Saturday morning.

Over 20 Scouts from the 85th (1st Inverkip) also took part in the campaign and collected a similar number of sacks of rubbish from the Inverkip Glen area on Wednesday night

Friday 16th May

Fund raising Ceilidh for Austria Camp in Finnart St. Paul’s Church. Tickets available now from any participant or ADC David Storey.

Fun Quiz Night for Christian Aid. Fun quiz night organised by 70th Group – come along to Old West Kirk Hall 7.00pm to 9.00pm. All welcome !

Saturday 24th / Sunday 25th May

Annual Parade Flag Rehearsal and service at Westburn Church. GSLs have full information.

Beaver Leaders Gathering

There will be a Beaver Leaders gathering in the District HQ, Finnart Street, on Tuesday 13th May at 8.00pm.
The only item of business will be discussion about the Beavers’ Activity Day. It is important that all Groups are represented and that you have decided what activity your colony will be
organising.

District Network Meeting

A meeting of all those members aged 18 -25 interested in finding out more about the Network Section and what’s in it for them has been arranged for Sunday 18th May at 2.00pm in District HQ. At the meeting a program of activities and events over the coming months for Network will be organised. Any further information from Tommy Boag.
