AS A FORMER SCOUT OF THE OLD 31st TROOP BASED IN LARKFIELD SCHOOL IN THE LATE 50s . I HAD THE HONOUR OF CARRYING THE FLAG TO THE DEDICATION CEREMONY AT ST. NINIANS CHURCH, THIS WAS THE ORIGINAL DEDICATION AND WE MARCHED FROM THE SCHOOL TO THE CHURCH FOR THE CEREMONY. THE SKIPPER WAS MR. RON SQUIRES. THE MINISTER WAS THE LATE REV, CATTANACH. AFTER THE DEDICATION WE MARCHED BACK TO THE SCHOOL. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A PHOTOGRAPH OF THIS AND WOULD BE VERY INTERESTED TO KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY. THANK YOU IF I CAN HELP FURTHER DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT ME

It was nice to re-connect with some memories of the 31st Renfrewshire troup by seeing the photo of Robert Kennedy and reading some of the names of the past (Ron Squires etc).
I joined the troup circa 1957-8 and enjoyed everything that scouting gave to me until leaving the 31st around 1962 ish.
Ron Squires was the first Scoutmaster followed by Robert Kennedy who to me was the rock holding the troup in good stead until I left. The troup was very active throughout its early, mid life with its own gang shows, camping, Queen scouts, a few pipers (in the Dunrod Pipe Band -Pipe Major W Meldrum) and parades and more. I have many memories of the 31st and the splendid lads passing through its good hands for a number of years but very few photos.
I will try to enter the 3 or 4 photos of the troup\’s activites elsewhere.
