1st Renfrew & Inverclyde

The 1st Renfrew & Inverclyde Scouts were formed in the latter half of 1908 in Mount Pleasant Church, Greenock. Mr W. Douglas Thomson was appointed Scout Leader.
Little is known about these early days. However over the years the Group thrived under the leadership of a number of Leaders, such as:-
Cubs:- May McDougall and Nan Connie.
Scouts:- David Sinnamon, Douglas Brown, Douglas McGougan and Andrew McKecknie.

This Photo shows May McDougall, Janet McGhie (Reid) with Cubs - Jim McEwan, Colin McKay, Norman Hart, Rober Anderson & Alan Chandler.
Below is a photograph of the Cub Pack and the Troop in 1970.

In later years, the Group moved to Highlander’s Academy.
The Scouts closed in 1985 With Mr B. Watt as the Scout Leader.
The Cubs continued until 1987 with the Cub Leader being Miss May McDougall.
We would like to hear from any former members who have information or photographs etc.
We are gratefull for the comment from Douglas Crumlish. After further contact, he forwarded some old photographs dating to around 1924 - 25.
A seclection of photographs can be viewed by clicking on to the old Troop Photograph at the top of the page.

My father was in 1st Renfrewshire as a Scout and Rover. I have several scanned images of the troop which must date mid 1920s.
