Be a Lifesaver
The District is pleased to support the Telegraph’s “Be a Lifesaver” campaign as detailed below.
Groups are encouraged to appoint one of their leaders to collect names and addresses of all those aged 17 and over from their Group who supports this campaign. Please submit the list of those willing to take part to Peter Bennett by Tuesday 13th November.
If there is enough support we plan to ask Elaine Bowers to come along to Distict HQ on Saturday 24th for a District photo for the campaign.
Individuals in the district wishing to support the campaign send your details direct to

GREENOCK TELEGRAPH CAMPAIGN
We are currently running a campaign at the Greenock Telegraph that I thought your staff /colleagues/club/group/pals/contacts/pupils etc might like to support. We are looking for readers to pledge to become blood donors over the festive period when supplies traditionally run low.
We launched the campaign in yesterday’s Greenock Telegraph and you can read more by logging on to our site www.greenocktelegraph.co.uk, then clicking on to ‘features’ and then clicking on to “Be a Lifesaver”. There will be more stories in today’s Telegraph and on the website today and tomorrow.
The blood transfusion service will be at Greenock Town Hall on Sunday 30 December between noon and 3.30pm. It will also be at other Inverclyde venues and dates still to be confirmed.
Anyone who wants to support our campaign can do so by pledging to become a donor. All they have to do at this stage is give us their name and address which we will pass to the transfusion service. The service will then write to the donors a few days before they come to Greenock/Inverclyde reminding/informing them of the times and places they can go to give blood.
If you are able to get a group of people together to support the campaign then I would be happy to arrange for our photographer to come out and take a picture with a view to carrying a story saying your staff /club/group/school etc were supporting the campaign. (Great publicity opportunity for you!).
We have a form in the Telegraph for anyone wanting to pledge but I would be able to accept just a list of names and addresses of the people who want to take part which I would pass on to the transfusion service. Anyone over 17 can take part and we would like the names of people who have donated before as well as those who want to donate for the first time.
Obviously, if any of your staff have blood transfusion stories they would like to share with us then I would be happy to speak to them also as the more material we get for the campaign the bigger the difference we can hopefully make in encouraging more people to come forward.
I hope you will support us in our campaign as the transfusion service desperately needs more donors to come forward.
Please let me have your views.
I hope to hear from you soon.
