Leadership Appointments
District Commissioner, David McCallum, has announced the following appointments, all to take effect from 1st October 2007
GSL: 59th
Liz Pinkerton will take over the reigns from Ronnie McKay from Monday 1st October 2007. Liz has been involved in the group for many years, mainly as Cub Scout Leader. Her main focus will be on strengthening the leadership team, and looking at ways of developing the Group.
I am sure you will all join with me in wishing Liz well in her new and important role
AGSL:85th
Andrew Yarr will now take on this number 2 job in the Group to directly support Shirley Cairney in her development and activity programme. Andrew brings years of experience to the Group, and is well respected within the village of Inverkip and beyond. Well done to Andrew for taking on this important role
Pipe Band Secretary
Jim Bell has agreed to take on this role, now that he has cleared his feet of the Museum Centenary Exhibition. Jim will support Campbell Cairns, our Pipe Major, and will register all band equipment, provide support with accounts, grants and bookings. This will free up Campbell to move on with Band development and tuition. Jim, as always, is a welcome support to Scouting
ADC (Adult Training)-Designate
Shirley Cairney will take on this new role (or rather old role which disappeared a few years ago but is coming back to District on 1 April 2008). Shirley will work, in the short term with Ronnie to achieve a successful handover. She will work closely with the Regional Trainer, Brian Donaldson, and gather together a revitalised team of training advisers. Shirley will bring to this job many years of experience from her Social Work background, a good sense of fun and a terrific amount of enthusiasm. Lets give her lots of support, Shirley has already started to overhaul the system. More on this later
ADC (Activities)
I have decided to take the unusual step of appointing two people to this post which has been vacant for some time too, I suppose ‘job share’. Activities will be at the top of my agenda along with development in 2008.

Calum is only 21 yrs old but has immense experience in outdoor pursuits, holding a SPA and BCU qualifications, Calum will lead on the actual out and about activities and Anil will deal with H & S matters, keeping a register of all authorisations and Qualifications. Anil will also be the Blair Atholl co-ordinator. The boys will also deal with D of E expeditions

Alison Reid has agreed to take up this appointment to act as a direct support to ADC Scouts, David Storie and fellow DSL Mark Gallagher. We are sure Alison will add the woman’s touch to the Scout Team.
District Scout Network Leader
Tommy Boag has agreed to take on this important role, which comes to District level from next year.Network is currently an Area provision. This new job is a District team position, effective from now. Tommy is keen to repackage and grow the Inverclyde Network (18-25 yrs), let’s give him every support
